Apart from all the offerings at The Artground @ Goodman Arts Centre, our new arts centre @ One Holland Village offers an
Arts-Based Sensory Storytelling Curriculum.

In collaboration with Australian arts company, Sensorium Theatre, this bespoke programme is designed and customised for local use with
children from 18 months old to 6 years old. With 12 exciting themes derived from children’s literature, parents can opt to sign their little ones up
for either a month or a three month term, and attend weekly arts sessions.

Children will be engaged in integrated learning across different domains on a monthly basis, with the following structure in place:

Creative and Aesthetic Expression
Music and movement, drama and aesthetic expression

Art promotes self-esteem and self-expression. Children thrive when they learn to trust themselves and communicate their thoughts and feelings through and with art. Singing and dramatisation in a group setting also enable children to learn how to work cooperatively too. These are important life skills to equip our children with
.

Visual Arts Exposure
Visual creation integrated with fine motor development

Children develop an increased awareness of the key arts elements such as colours, lines, shapes, forms and/or textures through their  exploration of the different art techniques. Exposure to techniques such as drawing, printing, sculpting/moulding and painting allow children to refine their fine motor skills which are critical for the development of eye-hand coordination and dexterity.

Language arts engagement and literacy development
Popular children’s books will be introduced, integrated with song/rhyme

Through sensory storytelling, children not only learn to pick up new vocabulary but also develop listening and attention skills whilst building and using language. Songs and rhymes encourage speech and language development in the little ones in a natural way.

Multi-Faceted Learning

The integrated and sensorial learning further contribute to children’s fine motor development and understanding about cause and effect. Most importantly, the development of social and emotional competencies for children at this age will be emphasised during the weekly sessions.
