The Artground – A Curious Place To Be is managed and nurtured by The Ground Co Limited, a registered arts charity. We aim to provide positive arts experiences across a variety of art forms for children from birth to 9 years old in an accessible space that welcomes children from every community.

The Artground Visual Arts Space

The Artground’s Visual Arts Space, is the body of the arts centre. It is a space that provides a welcoming environment for children and families to explore and engage with quality arts experiences. We aim to bridge the gap between arts and play, nurturing children's physical, social, and communicative skills as they interact with the space and each other. It's a communal ground that fosters shared experiences among young families.

We are committed to working with artists and supporting their development. Our Visual Arts Space design initiative provides a great platform for artists interested in transforming their craft into space design for children.

Since December 2023, The Artground has opened up a new arts centre at
One Holland Village. We are seeing proposals for our
Goodman Arts Centre venue as well as One Holland Village.

We welcome creative, fun-loving individuals who want to create beautiful spaces and things for children! Whether you're an experienced artist or a self-taught enthusiast, we invite you to share your vision with us. No formal arts training or prior experience is necessary - just a passion for creating inspiring environments for young minds to explore.

What Makes The Artground's Art Space?

Our Visual Arts Space is more than just an area for creative expression. It is a place where imaginations come to life. Designed to ignite children's creativity through various artistic avenues, the arts space should provide a safe, interactive and immersive experience for children from birth to 9 years old.

Arts Space Objectives

FOSTERING CREATIVE EXPLORATION

At The Artground, we believe in fostering creative exploration through spaces that inspire imagination and physical engagement. Our structures are more than just installations; they are artistic expressions that invite children to crawl through, over and under. We value interactions that not only stimulate children's curiosity but also encourage bonding between parents and their little ones. Safety is paramount in our designs, ensuring that both children and adults can play and explore together in a secure environment.

SENSORY AND TACTILE ELEMENTS

We have a baby area in our arts space that is dedicated and specially designed for babies and toddlers from birth to 3 years old. The designs reflected here should encourage good use of sensory and tactile elements while engaging toddlers in an exploratory manner.

ENCOURAGING CURIOSITY THROUGH INDIVIDUAL EXPLORATION

With all the actions going around the space, it is important to have a little
alcove area for low-impact activities. This little nook creates a safe and
quiet area for self-exploration, a perfect environment to encourage parent-child bonding.

INTERACTIVE CONCEPTS THAT INVOLVE CAUSE AND EFFECT

Children are intrigued by the simplest ideas! Concepts that shows interactivity are always a hit amongst the curious little ones.

AN ACCESSIBLE SPACE FOR ALL

The Artground – A Curious Space To Be prides itself as being an arts centre that welcomes children from every community and background. For our Goodman Arts Centre venue - we have an accessible ramp in the middle of the space that links the Groundfloor to the stage area. This space should also be considered in the design proposal. The arts space design should encourage wheelchair access and various elements that cater towards children with various needs.
