Dance with Ally!
By Norlin Samat and Rolypoly Family
Dance with Ally! (Menari Bersama Ally) is a delightful dance performance inspired by the bilingual children’s book, Ally at the Park (Ally di Taman). This interactive, bilingual English-Malay performance introduces young children to the beauty of the Malay language through movement and music.
Join Ally, a curious and observant cat, as she frolics through a park meeting other creatures and having refreshing experiences. In the performance, she is reimagined as a dancing cat, whose lively movement and song animate the sounds of the Malay vocabulary she encounters along her stroll. The Malay vocabulary is woven seamlessly into the choreography so young ones can hear and see words in action, making language learning playful and full-bodied. The performance invites the young audiences and their families/teachers to dance along with Ally, nurturing language appreciation through enjoyment and movement.
Dance with Ally! promises to be a joyful, enriching experience that will leave them smiling, moving, and knowing some words in Malay.
