An Original Work by Stan, developed as part of TAG's Artist-in-Residency Programme.
Performer: Vanessa Toh
HOUSE is an intimate, live theatre performance created specifically for children aged 15 months to 3 years. We invite you to peek into the everyday adventures of our curious Collector. Usually, she spends her days wandering the world to find hidden treasures—but today, the rain is pouring.
Can the Collector find the same magic and joy inside the four walls of her home? Through rhythmic beats, evolving shapes, and sensory play, your little ones will discover that wonder isn't just found "out there"—it’s everywhere we look.
An Intimate "Home" for Every Family
To ensure a safe and immersive environment, our theater is transformed into a village of 9 individual houses. Each child and their carer will "live" within their own private space, providing a cozy front-row seat to the Collector’s journey of discovery.
The Discovery Session
The magic doesn't end when the curtain falls. After the show, we invite our young audience members to step out of their houses and into the Collector's world for a guided post-show experience.
This is a dedicated time for tactile exploration and play, allowing children to connect deeply with the elements they just saw on stage:
- Meet the Collector: A gentle opportunity to say hello to our lead character in a relaxed setting.
- Explore the Set: Wander through the performance space and see the world from the Collector's perspective.
- Tactile Discovery: A "hands-on" invitation to touch and feel the treasures of the show, including:
- Nature’s Wonders: Earthy mushrooms, smooth rocks, and textured seed pods.
- Hidden Gems: Sparkling jewels and "water bubbles."
- The Soundscape Gallery: At-home access to the rhythmic beats and whimsical sounds used during the performance, allowing children to experiment with the show’s auditory magic.
Stan is an artist whose practice centers on fostering meaningful connection and exchange with young audiences. By utilizing a simple yet profound dialogue between materials and ideas, Stan creates immersive environments that invite curiosity and play.
A significant milestone in this journey was the development of HOUSE, a project conceived and refined during an artist residency at The Artground. Through this residency, Stan explored new ways to translate complex concepts into accessible, sensory-driven experiences, further solidifying a commitment to artistic work that respects and empowers the youngest of viewers.
